Hi, I’m Lucy

I am an illustrator based near Bath and I love mixing traditional media to create artwork that celebrates small moments of connection and the magic that can be found within the everyday. 

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember and I always carry a sketchbook with me. Many of my observed characters have found their way into the books that I wrote and illustrated whilst studying on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art.

When I’m not out drawing in my sketchbook, I work from my home studio near Bath where I am often joined by my dog, George, a good audiobook and lots of cups of coffee. I am inspired by the colours I see, interactions between people and places and the conversations I overhear as I draw.

My love of storytelling led me to a degree in English and Creative writing and then an MA in Creative Writing. Once I graduated, I spent a year working in my local community library, before becoming a primary school teacher.

When I’m not illustrating, I’m usually immersed in stories in all of their forms - books, films, a really good television series. I love to draw outside with friends, explore the natural world with George, and experiment with cooking.
